The Swift Creek Quilters meet in Campton, KY, on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, weather permitting, from 10:00am until noon at the Wolfe County U.K. Extension Office, which is located next to the Swift Creek Arts and Crafts Gallery. The goal of the Swift Creek Quilters is to celebrate and perpetuate the artistic tradition of quilting.
People with all levels of quilting ability are welcomed. Experienced and novice quilters gather to share patterns, techniques, and the love of quilting. Bring your own work or join the group's lap quilting project for the residents of the local nursing home. In addition to over three dozen quilts, The Swift Creek Quilters have made a hundred quilted ornaments for the residents of the nursing home.
The annual "Quilt Celebration" hosted by the Appalachian Heritage Alliance's quilt group, the Swift Creek Quilters, has grown into a partnership with the Wolfe County Women's Club and the Wolfe County Extension Agency. Quilters from the region annually display their quilts in two locations in downtown Campton. It is wonderful to see so many lovely quilts displayed in the community. The celebration encourages more people to join us on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month as we gather to carry on the traditional art of hand quilting.
